Default The Deity

Introduction:
Alright, this is a character proffession that I think would be a nice addition to Guild Wars. The class is called the Deity.

Abilities:
The Deity is a priest-like character proffession that dedicates its life to the study of the elements. Now, you may say "Oh no not another Elementalist...", but the Deity is a very different class then the Elementalist. This class has the ability to perform Elemental Rituals which grant them the power of the given element. Deities may only be enchanted by one Elemental Ritual at any given time. When a character is enchanted by one of these spells, they take the form of that element.[INDENT]Earth: When a Deity is enchanted with the Earth Element, that character takes the form of a rock-golem-like creature. The character is covored with jagged stone plates. Characters enchanted by the Earth Element are extreamly durable and take a minimum amount of damage, however the deal significantly less damage with their attacks. Eath Deities are perfect for tanking.[INDENT]Fire: When a Deity is enchanted with the Fire Element, that character turns into a human-flame. The Deity is enveloped in fire and ash. Fire Deities deal a massive amount of damage but are very vulnerable and take large amounts of damage. The Fire Element is perfect for a character who wishes to deal a heck-of-a-lot of damage, and doesn't care about getting beat-up.[INDENT]Air: While enchanted by the Air Element, a character becomes slightly transparent. Air Deities are very agile and evade attacks frequently, however they are also not very accurate with their attacks and often miss. The Air Element is perfect for running.[INDENT]Water: Finally there is the element of Water. When a character is enchanted with the Water Element, that character is covored in a thick shell of ice. Water Deities are very accurate with their attacks, hardly ever missing, but are not very agile and have only a small chance of blocking attacks.

Purpose:
The purpose of the Deity is to add a very adaptable character to a party. Deities are very usefull in PvE because they can perform which ever role is most-needed in a party. Deities resemble Dervishes in the fact that they are much more powerfull when they are in the form of a spirit. The Deity is a very adaptable class and is meant to add a nice backbone to the Guild Wars PvE community.

Class Details:
Role : Varries
Armor Type : Caster armor, 60 Armor Level
Energy Type : High energy, 30 energy, 4 energy regen.
Range Type : Melee

Attributes:
Elemental Lore (Primary) : Elemental Lore determines how well the Deity can harness the elements. Increasing your rank in Elemental Lore improves the amount of damage you deal while afftected by an Elemental Enchantment as well as how long that Enchantment lasts without wearing off. While a Deity is taking the form of an element, the character can not wield any weapons/shields. Therefor, the amount of damage you deal depends on your rank in Elemental Lore as well as the offensive skills you use.

Divine Intimidation : Divine Intimidation is a very unique attribute exclusive to the Deity. This attribute allows the Deity to intimidate foes in the area around him, causing them to be less aggresive towards the character. Your rank in Divine Intimidation determines how easily you intimidate foes.

Elemental Prayers : Elemental Prayers serve as the Deity's healing attribute. Elemental Prayers deal with health gain and health regeneration.

Example Skills
Call of Fire : (Elemental Lore) Enchantment Spell. You must be in the Fire Element to cast.Your character takes form of the fire element for (15...30...60) seconds. While enchanted by this spell, you deal (200...400...600%) more damage with your attacks and inflict burning condition upon contact, but you take (300...200...100%) more damage from combat.
Roar of Power : (Divine Intimidation) Shout. Foes in the area are less aggresive towards you for (10...15...30) seconds.
Roots of Earth : (Elemental Prayers) Enchantment Spell. You must be in the Eath Element to cast. You gain +5 Health regen. for (5...10...15) Seconds.

Notes:
Because the Deity is such a stable character profession on its own, it can not get a second proffession. The Deity also can not be used as a Second profession. The Deity is designed to be an independent character class as it is very adaptable, but it is also a very usefull member to have in a PvE part, because it can take whichever role is most needed in the Party.

Conclusion:
I believe that the Deity would be a very nice addition to Guild Wars because the Guild Wars PvE community really needs a sturdy "backbone" profession. Thanks for readying ! Feel free to post any comments at all refering to The Deity!

Too similar to other classes, not enough to differentiate itself, classes already exist that can be hybrids, and the skills kind of suck (Call of Fire especially).

I think you need to work on it more, it doesn't feel like its own class really.

Water:Water Deities have only a small chance of blocking attacks.

those two kinda reminded me of something

earth -> ursan

water -> raven

as for fire i can safely say op.

and the slight chances of missing etc is a turn off. its like being hexed with blurred vision all the time.

This sounds like a huge combination of at least 4 classes already present, except you can't be all of them at once. Needs more variety, like previously said.

When I read that it can fulfill really any role a party needs, I said deininftely no. Because it would be like the stupid death knight in WoW now...All you would see is "Deitys" running around...
Why would anyone use a DIFFERENT class?

And like everyone else said...It really isnt much of a different class

It does not look at all like an assassin to me...

I think what is missing here is more skills examples. Actually skills connected to the attributes make the profession. To have balanced play deity needs to be able to take secondary professions and other professions should be able to take deity.Otherwise it would just not fit in. What you describe as skill should be elite skills (quite similar to derv avatars in my opinion). I would change the name as well...
